Default LMIA Approved - but sent TR forms

Good morning all,

The company my wife is going to be working for has completed the LMIA and this has been approved for her job.
However the solicitors have sent paperwork for us to complete. We noticed that one form is for temporary residency, as far as we were aware we should be getting forms for permanent residency.

Also as part of my forms they want to know if I have higher education. My wife had to pay and get WES to confirm the qualification.
Being that I am not the primary if I confirm I do will I have to pay and get that done too?
If we have to go in as a temporary how easy/how would we get PR status? So confusing.

A LMIA is only for temp work permits. If you want to apply for PR then that’s a separate application and you’ll need to see if you/your wife are eligible for that.

HTH.

It is a very different proposition, the company should have told you, particular as your wife will be beholden to them (she can't work for anybody else on a work permit).

Do you mean the ECA? If so, you'll only need to get it done if you want to claim points for your education as well, it's not mandatory for any PR app for the spouse of the principal applicant. But you may find you are better off being the principal applicant for a PR app, if you score higher, so do check that too.

You could possibly apply for PR now before you move. Or you might never be eligible to apply for PR. Too many variables I’m afraid! You’ll need to look and see if you’re eligible for PR and if so, via which route and what the requirements of that route are.
