Living in the US may move to Canada HELP!

Hi,
I am Canadian married to a British National, currently living in the US. My husband is on a L1 visa and I have
a L2 visa. If my husband gets laid off, we have to leave the US and will have to move back to England.
What are my options to sponsoring him to Canada permanently?
Can I apply for him now while we are on L1 and L2 status?

Hi, and welcome to the Canada side of the forum.

Yes, you can sponsor him for PR, have a read of the CIC website and the Wiki article on spousal sponsorship for info on the process. It'll take about 6 months, you can do it from the US, although you will have to prove as part of the application that you do intend to move back (statements from family, emails exchanged with realtors, job applications etc).

Didn't you only just move to the US?! Sorry to hear that redundancy is a possibility after such a short time. :(

Good luck.

Thank you christmasoompa for the info, wiki article was a great help.

Yes, we just moved and want a back up plan just in case.

Have a Merry Christmas & a happy 2013!
