Default Lifespan of work permit authorisation ???

Is there a time limit for when we have to arrive on a work permit? We got HRDC approval in Nov 2002 and had various delays while they sorted out the health cover for my family. Our permit authorisation arrived at the end of June but there is no mention of a date when we have to be there.

We would really like to sell our house before leaving for Canada, but unfortunately the housing market is in a pretty bad way. At the bottom of the authorisation it has "E2 (13/11/2002)" and my HRDC approval states that the duration of employment is 12 months.

Any help is appreciated
Gail

Usually workpermits are issued for 12 months and extended upon the need,
When you need to arrive depends on your work needs in that period. But Iam
not quite clear why are you talking about selling the house while on a work
permit. Work permit is restricted in so many ways ( Tied to a employer, a
location, duration etc)

We would like to sell our house because we are hopefully going to apply for PR after 12 months. I have 73 points so working for 12 months will take me over the 75 needed.

I am working in an area where they are having difficulty recruiting so there should not be a problem with extending my work permit. Admittedly the restrictions are a pain but we have to put up with it if we want to get PR.

Another reason for wanting to sell is that if we came back I would want to live in a different area. We wouldn't want to go through the process of having to sell on our return. The whole process is unsettling enough for the children so I wouldn't want another unnecessary change of school while waiting to sell the house.

So there is method in our madness !!!!!!!!
