Default Leaving Canada while on visitors visa

I am thinking of taking my children to visit my parent's in Tenerife.
As I am here as a visitor, (Michael has the Temp Work Permit) would there be any problem with me re-entering the country??
Michael has the visa attached to his passport, but I have nothing to prove I live in Canada.

I can just imagine the telephone conversation " sorry love, the kid's and I are being deported"

Hopefully someone out there will have been though this!!!

Linda

If you are a national of visa waiver country then you shouldn't have problems re-entering Canada as visitor - it will be more complicated trying to re-enter for longer period. Were you and kids included in your husband's work permit application as his dependents to accompany him in Canada? If yes then you should be listed on his work permit and carrying copy of it with you should be sufficient. But if you were not included as dependents on his work permit application and you are in Canada beyond admission granted when you arrived (6 months or less if there is a date written under admission stamp) then you are already in troubles. As you see it is not as easy as you think to answer question that lacks all relevant details.

If you are not from visa waiver country then you need valid visa to return to Canada.

Sorry, I should have been more detailed
Yes, we were included on his application, my 7 year old was included as student, myself and my daughter as visitors (although she is now of school age)

Thank you for your speedy reply!
