First let point out that I am not suggesting that Immigration Lawyers &
Consultants are crooks. My concern is, who do you believe? Who is right and who is
wrong? I have had widely varying opinions online and in initial consultations from
Lawyers & Consultants. Thank God the initial consultations are free. I will NOT
pay for a consultation when I can't be sure that the "professional" in question is
worthy of a fee.
For instance one person tell me that LICO for a sponsor is unimportant or rarely
considered by CIC in a spouse application. Another says it is VERY important. One
tell me that my specific application is pretty basic, another says it is complicated.
So, if I hire someone, I spend my money and take my chances. Right?...or does someone
have a magic formula for weeding out the incompetents and over-priced "marble & oak"
attorneys?
I will spend the money IF I know what I am getting and after I am satisfied that my
representative knows his stuff and can be trusted to give me the straight facts.
Right now, after many hours online and on the phone...I am as much in the dark as I
was when I started...in fact even MORE confused.

You must be talking to wrong people. Meeting LICO minimums is not required when
sponsoring a spouse, although all the financial information must be provided by
sponsor and it should show that sponsor is able to provide for the family.
