Default At last got the envelope from CHC but...

I am April 04 AOR applied at London CHC. On 26 September 05, I got a letter from CHC asking for IELTS within three months. It was really a shock for me as I had already submitted the original valid score card (as recommended) with the application. I have reconfirmed it from my records. I have e-mailed to them explaining the situation and hoping for the best otherwise it will be difficult to go through all the process again and long delay. This whole process is now getting on my nerves. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

How long ago did you take the IELTS? As far as I know, they're only valid, immigration-wise, for one year, so maybe yours were too old? If not, give your test centre a call to get another copy of the results, and send them off again.

Good luck!

I think the problem is that they ask for IELTS to be submitted with the application, but at the same time state that the test result is only valid for one year. It seems inevitable that we will have to take more than one test. Fortunately, the results only take two weeks to come through, but there is a cost involved. I've asked on another thread for information about how people are getting around having the IELTS test. If It were me I'd get signed up for the next available test and do it again. Good luck whatever you decide.

The validity isn't necessarily causing problems. My results were submitted a week before it was too old (back in Jan 2004), and I just got my medical requests. I have to submit a few updated documents, but no mention of the IELTS.

Sorry i can't be of any help with regards to IELTS but just out of curiosity, why do the results expire? Do people regress and forget a language?

My experience is that the languages that are 'newly' aquired (last 10-15 years) and I haven't spoken in a while, tend to slide out of my brain. I had to work hard with my French before the TEF test, and I think I wouldn't get the same result now as I did when I took the test. All a matter of keeping it fresh...

Hi there,

Though I'm not an expert but as far as I know the IELTS Scores are valid for 2 years not one. I guess they must have sent you this request by mistake and you can talk to them directly about this matter.

However, even if they insist again! Just go to British Council and ask them to forward your IELTS TRF to CHC London. They will give you a form to fill and you'll be given two options. with 1st option they will send the TRF through normal post and with the other option its possible to send it through the Courier which you can even track on internet by using Airway Bill Number.

Hope this helps

For other purposes, they are - for immigration they're only valid for one year.

Am no expert on this but the IELTS result is really valid for 2 years although CIC's rule to quote is that "Language test results must not be older than one year upon submission". This is what we adhered to and never took nor was required to submit another test result.

I did not submit my results along with the application, but had requested British Council to submit the results once i received the file number, That way i could keep the original results with me.

I dont know why the results expire. how could one forget English especially for those of us who use it in our everyday lives.

Actually I had appeared in IELTS for immigration purpose only. After receiving results I immidetialy submitted my application with the IELTS original sheet to avoid any complications in future. Now I have got only photocopy of the IELTS and I am wandering whether even if i get original, will it be accepetable to CHC (because it is almost two years old now). I am waiting for CHC response to guide me but at the same time cursing my luck. If any other documents was misplaced i could have easily replaced but taking IELTS again is an uphill task. I am praying that is a mistake on behalf of CHC otherwise I will have to reappear because I cannot prove me point to them.
