Default Landing related questions

for those who have been through similar circumstances - i would really appreciate your feedback on the following questions:

i am not intending to move quite yet to canada, but need to go there and arrange the documents before my 1-year immigrant visa expires.

1. coming from the U.S. to do the "landing" - is it ok to drive to canada with a car registered in the U.S., or should i better fly in? (having in mind i am not moving yet and thus won't be registering the car there but would rather be driving back to the U.S. a week later)

2. what kind of proof of settlement funds do i need to have with me? a letter from a bank? cash? check? or...?

3. what kinds of questions should i expect to be asked at the port of entry?

4. would they ask me about my plans? if so, should i be saying i am moving as we speak, or is it ok to say i am moving at a later point in time, just coming to get my things straightened now...

5. i will give the address of a friend there where the PR card would be mailed. are there any problems that i should be aware of in relation to the fact that i am going for a week only? what should i say if at entry they ask me why my return ticket is for next week?

6. what are the education documents i need to have with me - diplomas? just resume? transcripts? what other documents do i need?

7. what are the things i need to take care of in the week that i will spend there? social security, healthcare?

thanks a lot to everyone who can help with answers...
