Default Landing Question

Hello everybody,

Is it absolutely mandatory for the principal applicant to land before (or at
the same time as) the dependant spouse?

Is there any way for the dependant to land a month or so before the
principal applicant (as a result of circumstances)?

Thanks
Henry

Yes, it is mandatory and there is no way around it.

Yes, it's absolutely mandatory. The whole basis of the dependant spouse
being allowed to immigrate is because the principal applicant
is immigrating. Until the principal applicant actually lands, he's not
a permanent resident, and to allow the dependants to land first,
would confer certain rights on them, without the same rights being
conferred to the applicant upon which their immigrant status was based.
