Default Landing if already live in Canada!!

We have had passports returned with visa so now have to land. We either have option to make appointment with CIC office in Edmonton or go to border. An appt with Edmonton office I have been told would be about 6-8 weeks away so border would be quicker. Has anyone in Edmonton area done a border landing, is so where and was it ok?

We decided to land via crossing the border rather than wait for the appointment in Edmonton as our daughter was due to start university. We took a road trip to Victoria to drop her off and detoured through the US, absolutely no problems. We used the Abbotsford crossing point, paid $6 dollars to get into the US drove to the first intersection turned round and were back in Canada in 5 minutes. No queue at immigration so 20 minutes later we had "landed" and on our way - a bit of an anitclimax really

Did you pay with Canadian money, we are going to border tomorrow think the Car way one. Did you need any paperwork other than passports and paperwork returned with passports?

No, must be US$.

Some crossings accept credit card but check first if you want to rely on this.

We used credit card as had no cash with us! We took all our paperwork "just in case" but just needed passports and associated paperwork, they asked us about funds but didn't require any evidence
