Default Landing in Canada, 12 months from when?

Hi

Can someone please clarify something for me that I thought I knew. Someone has now told me something different, which has prompted this message.

I understand that you can have up to 12 months before being required to land in Canada. When does the clock start ticking, is it from the date on the letter for the medical requests, the date medicals taken, the date medicals were passed, or date of PPR.

I have heard conflicting views on this.

Cheers

Graham

Normally the clock starts ticking the day you take the medical examination. Visas would be valid for one year from that date or to the validity of your passport if that expired sooner.

Hi,

When the landing deadline is tied in by CIC, it is printed on your paper copy COPR.

If you cannot land before that date, PR is effectively scrapped, visa becomes invalid and you would need to start all over again.

Rich.
