Landed as a PR - passport stamp enquiry?

Hello!
well everything went swimmingly with landing as a PR at Calgary airport on Sunday, I managed to be the first in a line of about 8 people so I seen within 5 minutes.
we landed at 15:15 and by 16:00 I was outside the airport so incredibly fast!

Because my PR card is coming to Canada after I have already left the country (spending Christmas in the UK) they have said I need a visa in my passport to be allowed back in when I return in January. I have an ETA but he said about going to the embassy?

is this in London or can I get this in Calgary whilst I’m here this week?

ive called a few numbers but not getting straight answers

thanks again all

lucy

You can only get a Permanent Resident Travel Document while outside Canada, without your PR card. (your eTA will be cancelled at some point in the near future as you are no longer eligible for one)

Edit to add: Congratulations! :)

The processing times for PR cards is pretty quick right now, around 20 days I think. You may get it before you leave

I leave on Monday! It was only a quick visit and then husband and I are in Central America for 2 months honeymoon. Will have to go to London when I’m back I think

Did you provide a Canadian address for the PR card to be sent to? Is it going to be forwarded to the UK? If not then you will need to apply for the PRTD before flying back to Canada via the London office.

Once you leave Canada, as you are now PR, the only ways you can get back in are

1. Valid PR card (they will not mail outside Canada)
2. PRTD (apply at you nearest overseas Canadian VO)
3. Fly to the USA and cross by car or foot at a land border and show them you passport and stamped CoPR and explain
