Default Landed, but now have children

Hi my wife, three year old daughter and I have PR, we landed in 2010 and returned to the UK three months later. Since then we now have one year old twins who obviously do not have PR. I have a job as a civil engineer starting at the end of June. Can we all simply go over to Calgary and sponsor the twins when we get there, from within canada? Is there anything we need to do prior, medicals for the twins, etc? Thanks

You would need to sponsor the children, which currently will take 90 days.

Some people have also talked about getting a Temporary Residence Permit for the kids to allow them to live with you in Canada before that time - but if you need that would depend on how soon you plan to move back.

Given you only spent 3 months in Canada in 2010, you also need to be aware of the 2 year rule - when you arrive back in Canada, you must have more than 2 years left on your PR card validity.

Good luck.

The fact of the matter is that you will need to be settled in Canada to sponsor your children. It is quite likely that they would be allowed to accompany you to Canada and to wait there while you sponsor them. Many seem to do this having children thing the wrong way round (insofar as Canada immigration is concerned) and end of complicating things.

Many thanks for your help. Is there anything we could do from the UK in the next month. We fly to Calgary on June 25th. Is it possible to add them to our PR in under a month? Is it worth us visiting the consulate in London? Do we need a temporary residents visa for the twins or anything else, such as a medical or anything? Otherwise presumably they will get their passports stamped for six months, what happens after this? Thanks

In your case its probably better to sponsor them while in Canada. They will be issued visitor records for a year (extensions if need be) while file is processed and they can attend school.
