Keeping PR status current
Is it true that you have to be in Canada for 2 years out of 5 years in order to maintain your PR staus?

At least and in every 5 years period. If your intentions are to be less time than required in Canada then don't apply at all in the first place and don't take valuable processing resources from those who really want to make Canada their permanent home.
