just starting the process - finding it difficult to understand
 

Hi,

We are looking to move permanently to Canada in the near future but the process is so difficult to understand I seem to be going round in circles.

I am a qualified financial advisor working for a bank in Galway, Ireland for the past 3 years and before that for a uk bank in Manchester. My husband is a qualified plasterer but hasn't worked in that field for years and years.

What would be the best route to go down?

I have seen that if you don't pass the points tests there is an alternative route, its like state sponsored, is this right??

Please can anyone give me some guidance as i am so frustrated with this now.

Hi

1. To apply for FSW1 you or your spouse are required to have 1 years experience in the past 10 years in an occupation on the "list of 38" http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/departm...008-11-28a.asp
2. If you don't then you either have to have worked/studied in Canada or have an Approved Employment Option from a Canadian employer. Which states that they will employ you permanently after you get PR. The AEO must be approved by HRSDC (Service Canada)
3. Other than that you have to check out the various Provincial Nomination PRograms to see if you qualify. You will have to read them.

Hi

Look at the Wiki above on the blue bar. It will give you an overview of what immigration routes are available to you.

You do need a minimum number of points (67) to be eligible. You job also has to be on the NOC list too.
