Default Just got a Client ID for Spousal Application(with dependent)

Hello,

This message goes out to anyone with knowledge of the spousal
PR process.

I just received our client number and an approval of my eligibility
as a sponsor. My wife is Russian and she has a 5 year old dependent
daughter.
We were married last June in Finland. We have a great application(I
think): tons of pics together and statuatory declarations and
employer(American firm) recommendations...there should be no doubt as
to the legitimacy of our
relationship.

Just wondering...what might the chances be of Immigration Canada
waiving the
interview? Isn't an interview just to confirm the relationship? My
brother-in-law's interview was waived, and he was given his visa to
enter Canada in a matter of 3 or 4 months(he's from England). Should I
expect the same timeframe
or is Russia a completely different animal?

Thanks in advance!

It is true that in a spousal application the interview really only takes
place if they doubt the bona fide nature of the relationship.

I think Russia is a different animal as you say than say the UK simply
because of it's economic situation. They will probably be right in assuming
there are a lot more people from Russia attempting to find a way into Canada
illegally than there are from say the UK or USA. It is just unfortunate your
wife comes from a country that does have high levels of women marrying for
immigration so they may have increased scrutiny. However as you say you have
provided a lot of evidence for yoru relationship which is always a good
thing, and if that evidence establishes a long relationship and shows you
meeting family and visiting many times and so forth then i tihnk you should
be ok. People who are marrying just for migration etc do not spend a long
period of time establishing a relationship and paying for many visits and
don;t meet family and such.

In the end you will just have to wait and see, but if the evidence proves
the relationship without a doubt then you should be fine.
