Default Job Oppurtunities....

Hai,
I have applied for canadian immgration and waiting for the
landing papers. I just want to know how is the job market. I am an IT
professional with over 6 yrs of experience. I am aware that IT is'nt
doing good anywhere. Before speaking of IT job, I would like to settle
down first in the new [lace(Canada), I just wanted to know how is
availability of odd jobs, what will be its nature, and ofcourse how
will it fetch? Please do guide me.

Your chances of finding IT work is slim. It takes a perfect resume
and a great cover letter or you must know someone to get in the door.
Your best chance is probably in the big cities (Toronto, Vancouver,
Montreal). I would immigrate with the idea of getting any job you
could to start off with.

BTW it doesn't help Canada now that the US dollar is declining in
value. We've lost a competitive advantage in that US companies are
now starting to pull jobs out of Canada and move them back home or
off-shore or to Mexico. Even though Canada has been the best
performing G-7 country for the last year or two, we are poised to go
into a recession twice as bad as the USA.
