Default Job change for principal applicant

I've done a bit of digging around, but can't find an answer, so would welcome any opinions.

If my OH, who is the principal applicant, changes their job before we get medicals etc (always assuming we're not tossed onto the scrapheap of failed applications ...) will this affect our application? Would we need to update the High Commission about any joy change? Or would it be better if we just sit tight until we've got those (far distant) shiny visas?

Thanks everyone!
