Default Intra company transfer/port of entry question

Hi everyone

My situation is that I am working for a company in the Uk currently as a system administrator. I am actually transferring to the Canada office in Toronto in the next few months and I have an application processing with
Ontario for PNP nomination.

The plan was for oppurtunities Ontario to provide me with a supporting letter so that I may apply for a LMO exempt work permit at port of entry which is fine however I want to make a plan B in case my application isn't processed this year for whatever reason (they currently have a huge backlog)

My plan B is as follows...

In September I will have been working for the company for one year, at this point I'd like to turn up with my family at port of entry and apply for an inter company transfer visa, we will have supporting documentation to show I have been doing the same job in the UK for the past year and that it is a specialised knowledge role etc

My question is does plan B sound feasible and I there anything that I am overlooking here? I am keen to have a backup plan and if this is doable then I know that I am definitely moving to Canada this year ( assuming the POE person is nice to us lol!)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

Double check you are eligible for ICT. From the role it sounds as though you may be.

When I cam over on an ICT in 2003, I had;
Letter from Canadian Immigration Lawyer stating why I was coming to work in our new Canadian office, my position, length at the company (was around 8 years at that point) and salary

A Letter from the CEO / MD, again detailing what my position and salary would be.

That was about it. I turned up at Pearson Airport, asked if they could direct me to where I needed to go to apply for a work permit, and when there I stated what I wanted, provided my paperwork, answered a few questions (confirm name, employment details, basic verification things) and was given a work permit.

As you are taking your family with you, you should make sure that those who wish to work, are able to get open work permits as well, otherwise they will be unable to work in Canada.

Hi thanks for getting back to me so quickly, I am hoping the process is still the same as it was when you applied

I am not sure how to check that I am eligible for ICT, any ideas on how to do that? U recently receive a positive pre-screen check for PNP for my position so I am pretty confident I will be.

One thing I am concerned with is that one tw following page it states that you have to work for a related company in the US or Mexico, is ICT still possible for workers coming from the UK?

If he's eligible for an ICT TWP, his spouse will be able to get a SOWP too, as his job must be skilled.

This will help - http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Intra-...ransfer-Canada

I'm assuming that you'd be going under the 'specialized knowledge' category from what you've said, so make sure you meet the criteria under that section.

HTH, good luck.

I'm just re-reading the original post. Is there a reason the company went the PNP route, rather than just ICT?

Perhaps I'm mistaken but ICT is a lot quicker to obtain than PNP, ie; if you qualify under the criteria then you have the company get together the required paperwork, and then you apply at Point Of Entry.

Well I joined the company 7 months ago on the understanding I would be moving to Canada once I get my PNP nomination however that process is taking longer than expected so I may well just go on ICT in 5 months time if needs be.
