Intra-company transfer - In's and out's

Hello guys,

Having spent some time now looking into getting a work permit under an Intra-company transfer, I believe I would qualify under the specialized category (The job I do is very technical and involves in-depth knowledge of systems/applications/vehicles that no Canadians would have which is why our branch in Canada is looking to bring me over) I had some specific questions about this area I cannot seem to get the correct answers to:

- If the permit is issued at POE, will this initally be for one year, and then I would need to apply for further time? Or can I ask for an extension to 3-5 years at POE?
- With this type of permit, will this enable me to set up a Canadian bank account and get all the necessary local bills etc set up?
- Will my partner and daughter be able to enter Canada off the back of this permit?

What I want to be sure of is that should I go down this route of entry, that it is sustainable for me to set up life in Canada and not risk being kicked out after 1 year!

Many thanks

Read this link first as CIC/CBSA have cracked down on specialized knowledge when applying at a POE for a work permit.
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration...knowledge.html

Normally ICT work permits issued for more than 12 months but less than 3 years dependent on circumstances and category applied under ie Executive/Senior Manager opposed to start up company requirements
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration...-code-c12.html

Yes partners and children can enter on this and partner probably eligible for open work permit as long as they meet the criteria such as married or been common law living together for over 12 months with evidence as such and your job is in skill level 0 A or B which ICT usually are.

Applying at a POE without sufficient documentation will lead to a refusal.
Hint read the links before more questions as they contain most of the answers.

My ICT SK work permit was issued at the border for 3 years.

My company, and others as well, use a legal firm to prepare the paperwork for presentation at the border.

Remember you have to show both advanced technical and propertiery knowledge. The longer you have been with a company the easy the second is to prove.
