Interview experience, Andrew Miller/Jim Humphries?
Hi,
I applied as a skilled independent in May 2001 and just had my interview in Kingston on 19/05/2003. All I was asked to bring for the interview was my passport, proof of funds and the originals of my educational credentials. I had a nice conversation with the lady at the CHC for about 40 minutes, general questions, very friendly, etc. What is very confusing is that at the end of the interview the officer told me that she is not doing any assessments at this time and that they will contact me in about 2 months time, if they need anything else. My questions: 1) Is it normal for the CIC office to conduct an interview without making any decision? 2) Is it good or bad sign? 3) What was a point to make me travel to Kingston without any visible reason? I would appreciate if anyone with the similar experience will share it here. Mr.Miller, Mr.Humphries, please? Thank you, Andre |

It doesn't sound very promising. Usually applicants is being told that
interview was successful and that final decision will be subject to medical, background/security and criminal checks. 1) Yes, it is normal as interviewing officer is not required to make selection decision at the end of interview. But most do (see above). 2) Not very good sign, looks like you either failed interview or they still didn't conclude full verification of your education/experience credentials and/or documents you brought for the interview were inconclusive. 3) The usual reason for selection interview is to verify, clarify or assess factors that were not convincingly presented and proven in the application package - and it is really the last chance to make your case. So, there must have been a valid reason to call you for the interview, even if you don't see it. -- ../.. Hi Andre,
I faced a similar situation. After my interview, the visa officer just told me blank that he would process my application. When I inquired whether "process application means positive or negative", the visa officer just told me that I would hear from the consulate in 8 weeks time. But after a long wait, I got my immigration visa. Originally posted by Andre Hi, I applied as a skilled independent in May 2001 and just had my interview in Kingston on 19/05/2003. Thank you everyone for the input.
Frazer, Sam - I hope I will follow your path and everything would be fine. I will post my results as soon as I know it. By the way, I WAS NOT asked to submit any new forms and I WAS NOT asked for proof of my English ability. Andre |
