Can you confirm that for first time applicants, police certificates have to be submitted with the application while they are less than three months old?

Thanks,

Richard

Dear Richard,

We accept police certificates which have been issued in the last 12 months.

Kind regards,

The IEC Team

YAY!!
Sorry, I didn't see the responses to my post yesterday until now, otherwise I would have reassured you all before now! Definitely, definitely, definitely, one year validity for the IEC.

Finally an update is on the IEC website!! And at least we know application will open by 1st Feb. But I am now panicing as I read further up that the police certificate needs must have been issued no more than three months before you submit your application. Mine was issued 4th October so do I need to send off for another one now? Previously I thought that it was valid for 12 months but according to the below link, it has to have been issued 3 months before submitting application...
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/informa...cert/intro.asp
How likely is it that, as it is all now online, we do not even need police certificates anymore...? I guess time will tell!

As per the above posts, the page you are linking to is for immigration applications - which the IEC isn't, it's only a temp visa. The IEC has a validity of one year for police checks, unless they change things for the 2013 program.

Should you apply for PR at any point though, that's when you'll need a police cert obtained less than 3 months from the date you submit it.

HTH.

Don't worry, I was surprised to read somewhere above on this thread about the 3 month rule because I have read every single piece of info on the IEC website and always thought it was valid for 12 months. The posts above saying an email from IEC confirming it plus the explanation that the 3 month rule only applies to immigration, as well as my reading of the whole website are all good enough for me to stop panicing. PHEW!!!
