Indonesian Police Clearance

Indonesian Police Clearance
We applied as Federal Skilled Workers in Sydney and, like everyone else in the queue in Sydney, are waiting to hear. For you CIC-Sydney people our timeline is below.
We lived in Indonesia for a few years. We were initially told to wait until we heard from CIC-Sydney before trying to get Indonesian police clearance certificates. Someone even suggested that the CIC may have their own way to get police clearances themselves in Indonesia.
We did a preliminary check and found out that we would have to go back to Indonesia in order to get police clearances as foreigners. (This is not the case for Indonesians, but we were told that as foreigners we have to go back to get fingerprinted, etc.)
We were also told that we could pay a bribe and get a police clearance saying anything we wanted. We won't do that as it would only lead to trouble. (It also indicates that the rumour that the CIC has their own way of getting police clearances might be correct!)
Does anyone know what the drill is for getting police clearances for foreigners in Indonesia? We don't want to do anything clever, just get the paperwork going properly. We are going to be in Indonesia for a wedding in the next few months and, if we do indeed have to start the process while we are in Indonesia, we would like to try to do it then.
Any help from anyone with experience would be greatly appreciated.

You should probably start the process asap as it may take a long time. I don't know if there's a time limit on validity of overseas police clearances.
