Default Immigration lawyers

After a visit to the emmigrate show at Sandown and the daunting prospect of up to a 20 month wait for our appliaction to be processed, we are thinking about using a lawyer. We appreciate this won't speed things up but it will give us the peace of mind that our application is correctly completed. We are applying using the skilled worker category - hubby is a carpenter. Has anyone used a Lawyer who they would recommend - or not as the case would be. Also all opinions on lawyers greatfully accepted!

Immigration practitioners (lawyers and consultants) cannot speed up the
process. But they can make sure that application package is prepared
flawlessly and do everything to prevent unnecessary delays that are quite
common with applications prepared by someone without any expertise. It
includes much better chances for interview waiver, thus cutting down
processing time substantially.

Please keep in mind that within days now Canadian government will be
amending immigration law and only consultants who are members of CSIC and
lawyers who are members of Provincial or Territorial law society in Canada
will be able to represent you before Canadian immigration authorities. And
only Canadian citizens or permanent residents can be members of the above.
So, consider hiring only a practitioner who is in Canada as most of those
abroad (unless they are Canadians and are members of one of the above) will
not be able to represent you.

To see if consultant you want to hire is registered go to CSIC website:

http://www.csic-scci.ca/index.html

Any day now (as soon as government amends the law) CSIC will publish list or
registered members on the above website.

If you want to find a lawyer then contact law society in the Province of
your intended destination.
