Immigrating to Nova Scotia

Greetings for my first post.....I filled in an online immigration form with a company off UKtoNovaScotia and the result was they suggested the community visa....has anyone experience of this way of getting to Nova Scotia?...I am about to be forceably retired after 30 years in the Police and wondered what sort of work I could do out there?...I have some teaching qualifications and Health and Safety certificates as well.

Hi and welcome.

Lots of people have come to NS through the CIS stream. If you are not eligible under any other route, then it is very useful.

I think it would really depend on what you wanted to do workwise - would you need a large wage to cover mortgage and bills etc or would you be mortgage free and just be looking for some extra cash to pay off your bills and buy some Keith's of a weekend?

We would be mortgage free and with my pension financially sound but we would need to do something to qualify for a visa and to meet people and stop us going stir crazy!!

If you were entering as CIS you do not need to secure a job to gain a Visa through this route - so you can choose what you would want to do when you get here.

Keiths is the local beer here!

Re: Immigrating to Nova Scotia

before i applied as a skilled worker i investigated this route, as a shorter path to NS, I emailed some one from the Greater Halifax Area, and she was very helpful and responsive with my falling questions, she actually advised me to select the CIS only if I do not qualify under any other stream.
I advise you to email them I believe they shall be of more help and good luck:thumbup:

Please take the time to search the forum for previous posts, and to read the Wiki. You'll then find all the info you need on it.

Quite right. I hadn't really thought about it that way. If we all couldn't be bothered to do our homework and contribute to the Wiki section we wouldn't need a forum would we ! ;)
