IMM 7023 E - Appendix A

Hi - I'm getting the PR pack together to send with my AINP application. On some of the sections its not clear whether the documents need to be certified or original or copies, for example:

2. IDENTITY AND CIVIL STATUS DOCUMENTS
Birth, marriage, final divorce, annulment or seperation certificates for you and your spouse

3. CHILDRENS INFORMATION (IF APPLICABLE)
Childrens birth certificates (which name their parents)

Can I assume that because it doesn't state they need to be original or certified that a scanned copy will be okay?

Many thanks.

All docs should be copies apart from the criminal record checks.

I've just re-read it and realised I just sent photocopies myself (except the police certs), none of the copies were notorised :(

My understanding was that section 7 states notorised, so only documents in section 7 should be notorised.

Damn....maybe I'll get my docs returned.

Huge debate on here about this - search 'notarized/notarised' on top pink bar for recent discussions.

Just a point - our notary told me it is illegal to photocopy birth/marriage/death certs (ie notary won't therefore notarize a photocopy). You need a legal copy which you can get for £7 from the registry office local to the birth/marriage. Don't forget to get the 'long' birth certs which include names of parents. Mine came back from three separate offices in three days.

Spaceace - you will see from discussions that some people didn't get docs notarized and still got through process, though these tend to be the older applications (2006/2007).

thanks, I think I'll just put it out of my mind. I'm sure they'll re-request the docs if I got it wrong

You can order "certified copies" of birth and marriage certificates from about £6-£10 each from the Government's records department. I would order these and send them in. They are from the UK Government and stamped and everything. You don't need to worry about getting them notarised or what not.

Out of Interest how much did you pay to have them notarised?

Thanks.

Hi Mark
Did you purchase the certified copies online ? , its just I have recently obtained a copy ( Full version ) of my birth certificate from the registry office for my own records . Is the certified copy different to the one I have purchased ? If you have a link to the relevant website that would be great .
Many thanks again for all your help /advice
regards

We have been quoted £75 for first document and £15 for each thereafter, or £180 ph, whichever is cheapest.
