Default IEC to Student permit

Hello

Quick question once I have completed my IEC in May 2018, can I still apply for a student permit if I choose to study here?

Thanks

The short answer is yes so long as you meet the eligibility requirements. You can make an in Canada application as long as your work permit is valid (has not expired) at the time you apply.

Thanks for the reply! Another question. It says on CIC you need this for proof of funds.

Single student Tuition plus $10,000 for a 12-month period (or $833 per month)

Does that mean for example I'd need 2 years tuition (E.g. 2 year course) + $10,000 (or $833 per month What does that mean?)?

Thanks

You need to show proof that you have paid or can pay the first year's tuition, that you have money to live on for that year (at least $10,000) and the likelihood that you'd have the funds thereafter plus the ability to get yourself back home etc. You provide proof that you have funds when you apply.

Quebec has some different requirements.

So just proof of one year tuition for a 2 year program for example?

It is very similar of what I needed to proof on IEC. Great thanks for your help!

Yep, as Snowy has said, you'll need to show proof of the first years fees, plus the $10k, for living, plus a bit more. So figure $12k plus whatever the fees are for the course you're looking to do (make sure you're looking at the international fees, as you won't qualify for local fees).

HTH.
