Default IEC POE Extension

Hi all,

I was approved for a IEC work permit last year (August 2017) which mentioned that my latest POE date would be 01.09.2018.

Unfortunately since then I've ruptured my achillies tendon and have been on crutches for the last 3 months. I expect to be off them in a month however I am being told the recovery time is 9-12 months meaning I won't be fully mobile by the POE date.

Is there any way I can have the work permit extended by say 3-6 months? I'll be 30 in December so still below the age limit as far as i'm aware.

New to this forum so sorry if i've missed any details out.

Thanks
Jacob

If you dont activate the LOI/POE letter by 1.09.2018 and have the work permit issued then you would be SOL. The date the work permit is issued is when the 2 year validity starts. I highly doubt IRCC will extend the POE letter and CBSA won't extend the work permit.

How long is my POE Letter valid?

Based on what I am reading above no, you cannot extend the letter of introduction.

You can't.

The LOI has an instruction to the Officer which says:

Must enter Canada by (YYYY/MM/DD): [Date]

So you need to do that even if you don't work for a bit.

and:

Note: The expiry date of the letter of introduction cannot be changed or extended under any circumstance.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration....html#withdraw.

Because your LOI has been issued, even if you don't activate the Work Permit, it still counts as your participation in IEC.
