In a choice between Ireland or Australia - I know where I would rather be heading. Anyway this is off topic now as I think maybe I'll keep to chatting about the UK IEC which is what this is about.

I have had two IEC permits in last couple of years and that has allowed me to send an app for PR through common law, fingers crossed. I owe a lot to this program as there is no way i would have made it to Canada. I will be lurking and helping where i can with my experience of the last two years. Good luck everyone.

Default Re: IEC 2015

I have a ridiculously large amount riding on getting IEC for 2015. I've already been here in Edmonton for 5 months visitor plus 10 months on my 2014 IEC TWP.

I have a Canadian step kid, Canadian wife, Canadian car, Canadian job, responsibilities and not the money to be flying in and out if I don't get the IEC but I get the Spouse PR in 11 month's time. I just cannot go back to England!

I'll be all over this.

In fact, I'm looking to start making large contributions to this site's wiki.

Me too, Ireland any day! Huge amounts of off topic stuff will be expected on this thread, that's the nature of a public forum particularly with a thread like this, so don't worry about it.

So you've already applied for PR via your Canadian spouse? When? You'd only need to return to the UK if you needed to work there, you can stay in Canada whilst your PR is being processed.

Good luck!

It seems spousal sponsorship seems to be the way to go after IEC. Also seems to be easier for the male population regarding meeting someone. I'm guessing Canadian men are not that impressed with British women lol - I'm certainly finding that

Yes last week, PR by spouse sponsor via London, UK. No, I can't - outland. I don't enjoy the implied status.

You don't need implied status, it's dual intent, meaning you can stay in Canada whilst it's processed no problems. Plenty of folks on the forum have moved before getting PR.

Probably doesnt like the idea of not being able to work as well via the outland application. You can certainly stay while being processed but would need to find an employer willing to apply for the LMIA if applicable if wanting to work.

I did say he'd need to return to the UK if he wanted to work, but he said he 'no I can't' in response to my saying he could stay in Canada, so I was just clarifying in case he thought he couldn't.

Are you meaning I can stay as a visitor while waiting for PR or continue working? I don't think you mean working, but I need to check.

Correct - I have to continue working or at least keep the interval as short as possible to help me keep my job!

My job doesn't qualify for the LMIA route. It's a security job for law enforcement so well below the NOC threshold...

I've heard it's friendlier in Alberta...

Congrats!! I agree I think there are some nice guys, in Vancouver though it seems to be difficult plus I am wondering if it is slightly because people are working 2 or 3 jobs over here to keep up with rent payments - they just don't have the time.
