Default I just got my PR and wish to go to USA for my PhD

Hi
I am not sure if I am the first one to post this message but since I didnt find any similar posting, I posted it here. Here is my situation.
I did my masters in Canada during which I got my PR. Now I am deciding to continue my PhD in USA and come back to Canada for living. I know the 2/5 formulae. Now is there a way I can save my PR status?

Basically the only way is to reside in Canada, unless you have a CC spouse who would be accompanying you.

I'm a US resident with green card. I landed with my wife in Canada in June 2005.
My wife is currently living in Vancouver.
Is it possible to work in Seattle with my current US company and commute back and forth ?
Is there any problem doing that?
Thanks

Yes, you may lose your GC as you will be caught taking up permanent residency in another country.

Well, out of 5 years i can be outside canada for 3 years.
I haven't gave up my US residency yet since i'm still working in US.
I thought after 3 years from my Canadian landing, i'll have a problem keeping both residency.
I've heard there is a commuter green card issued by US imm. for US resident living in Canada and working in US.

Check with US immigration lawyer. I may be wrong but by taking up permanent residency in another country you are abandoning your green card. So, landing as PR + moving to Canada will obviously be taking up permanent residency in Canada.

Working in US has nothing to do with residency in US.

Again - consult good US immigration lawyer before making any mistakes.
