Re: HRSDC LMO Timeline
Currently 6-8 months for the processing time according to Service Canada in Edmonton right now! They gave me a number to call though and there automated service is saying 6-8 weeks.

Re: HRSDC LMO Timeline
We were getting them processed in as little as 2 weeks up until this month when the process slowed down slightly (4 - 6 weeks) due to the economic downturn (Politics at play). Your employer must have missed out some important info and needs to check up on its status immediately.

My employer called the service canada but they just inform them that our LMO still ongoing process. I don't know the reason why but it's clearly possible reason is the global recession....

Re: HRSDC LMO Timeline
The recession simply slows the process down, the rules are still the same, its just the interpretation of them that changes. LMO's are now only valid for 6 months (during which time they must be used or lost) and work permits are being mostly issued for 1 year (it was 2 years earlier this year). There is much closer scrutiny of what advertising an employer does locally and reasons must be given as to why any local applying for the advertised job was not successful....then you can bring in a foreign worker. A 6 month wait is not normal and you need your prospective employer to contact Service Canada asap.

Re: HRSDC LMO Timeline
My new employer applied for our LMO March 26th 2009 and we're still waiting.
I've been told that it's very difficult to talk to HRDSC at the moment?
Five weeks have never seemed so long!

I learned last week from our lawyer that the official processing time in Ontario at HRSDC is 7-9 weeks. I am in week 7 now...
