How soon after medicals will we get an excessive demand letter?
#31

This is just a musing but as I read the above I thought "hmmm, why do spouses have to sit a medical if excessive demand doesn't apply in spousal apps" is it to do with the fact that they are then able to work with kids and in hospitals etc once they get their pr?

Hi
They can still be refused if they have a disease or condition dangerous to the public health.

Hi,
I have Chrones and am waiting for med requests. Obviously anxious as Chrones is mentioned on the forms for DMP but as I've not actually been ill with it for 14+ years and stopped taking medication 5+ years ago I'm hoping I'll pass the medical
I have a letter from my GP stating that I am in remission and have not taken any meds for years so hope that helps.
I'll let you know how it goes at the medical if and when we get them.

none yet tracy...
Havent had request for more info on my hips which i expected...which is strange cos the surgery would have cost far more than my wee guy in his whole life!
Ive had one hip done and seeing cons on thursday with a view to getting left one done.
So will be done and dusted before immigration anyway.
We had more info requested on wee man which is sitting with them. We have been told to expect a response by 10th april...so we will see. <sigh>

It's so frustrating, I'm a bit like a manic depressive at the moment, up and down like a yo-yo. One minute excited and making plans, the next convinced we'll be turned down after investing so much time, energy and money into our dreams.

Quick question, what is this excessive demand letter? Whats it all about?
And Tracy what is a DMP?
Not been on this site much so trying to get used to lingo
Still waiting to hear about getting medicals done, so stressful that it takes so long.

dMP is designated medical practitioner ( a doctor authorized to do immigration Medicals)
Excessive demand letter is what you get if they consider that you or someone applying is likely to be a burden on Canada economically somehow ( I'll or need specialist support)
You get the opportunity to prove them wrong

Wee man has been reviewed by the medical review people and they are happy that after submitting IQ test that they will NOT issue an excessive demand letter even although he has Aspergers Syndrome.
We were so convinced that we were going to get an excessive demand letter that we were getting more supporting info together in preparation.
Im pleased that they seemed to have read the info initially sent and we dont seem to have been included in that blanket policy they seem to have with Autistic kids.

Thank you to all who have helped through this really difficult time and good luck to everyone else who will come up against similar challenges.
