Default How much contact from CIC?

We only just submitted our spousal application to Mississauga (was delivered on Monday the 24th of October), so we know we've got a bit of a wait ahead of us before anything happens.

Just out of curiousity, how much contact do you actually get from Mississauga and then London? Do Mississauga always send an AOR, or do they just tell you when the application has been passed to London? Do you hear anything from the time it gets to London to the passport request (if nothing else is required)?

I've tried logging onto e-cas with our receipt number for the online payment (knowing full well that it's too early for anything to be on there yet), so I'm assuming that at some point that will work.

I now fully understand the frustrating wait that everyone's been talking about!

We got a notification that our application had been passed onto London and then heard absolutely nothing until request for passports! Thats the bad news. The good news is that the whole process (in 2004) only took 6 mths. Compared the the SW timelines thats pretty darn good!

You submitted your application a few days ago and are already complaining and feeling frustration. Wow!
It will take about 4 to 6 weeks for the CP to issue their letter of approval with the advice that they have transferred the application to the visa office. Because you will have supplied all of the information needed and completed the immigration medical it will not be necessary for the visa office to contact you although they will send and acknowledgement letter in due course. Meanwhile relax during the quiet period that follows which is normally about 4 to 6 months or so. It will be good for your health too.

Thanks for the advice Jim...I'm not so much complaining, but the whole process feels like it takes longer because we've been building up to the sending of the application for about the last 4 months.

I'm just impatient, I was the same waiting for my British citizenship to come through

We got the "well done, you're eligible to sponsor, we've sent your app to London for PR processing letter" from Mississauga, then a blue postcard from London saying "received, do not contact us before 6mths are up", then a "please submit 975 CAD RPRF" letter a few days later, then a "we received your money" letter a week after that...

And then, as you know, all further communication was thrown in the River Kelvin by Royal Mail!!!!

today My ECAS started working this is what it says:

"We received your application to sponsor ********** on September 26, 2005.

We started processing your application on October 24, 2005."

So you have another month until they open your application and then 39days to process it. (the information matches that provided on http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/departm...ml#sponsorship )

With the current case load I'd start checking ECAS in about a month and plan on approval and forwarding in 2. Things are NOT like they were last year don't try and follow the older timelines you'll go crazy.
