Default how can one apply for a work visa outside of canada....

...without the employer first meeting the employee?? i would really like to return to Canada, to work but no one over there will offer me a job because they've never met me.

How does one actually apply for a work visa? and why is Canada one of the only countries that does this? I've considered 'under the table' work which doesnt require a visa but thats illegal and i might get caught.

Also, how long does it take to get a work visa once applied? ANY information or tips would be great. Thank You

(Beth)

Most countries require you to get a work visa if youa rent a citizen or
permanent resident there. you are correct that it is difficult to get a job
without first meeting the employer but i dont think there are many people
who do that, most seem to make a trip there to find a job and then they
return home to apply and pack and all that stuff, unless you are planning on
carting around all yoru belongings in the hope of a job?
Basicaly onc eyou get a job offer, the employer has to have the job
validated by HRDC to make sure it meets the requirements and then you can
apply to the nearest Canadian Embassy to wher eyou live. it normally takes a
few weeks or so i believe to get the actual work permit once you have sorted
everything else out.
The hard part is getting the job first as HRDC validation is a bit of a
hassle.

Beth : If you are from Oz , check out the Canadian Consulate General
in Sydney's web site about the working holiday program.
