How to activate PR

Hi guys,

Can anyone give any advice on the best way to activate our PR? We have a PNP from Saskatoon and currently we are just awaiting our COPR. Are we able to activate our PR at any port of entry? We are thinking of entering at Toronto, self-isolating for two weeks, and then returning to the UK. In terms of our PR cards, we have friend addresses that we can give. We are thinking of activating our PR for two reasons - firstly, doing it whilst we can before there are further lockdowns either end, and secondly, we want to receive the full vaccine before leaving for Canada on a permanent basis.

Let us know if you have any thoughts/advice?

Thanks

Based on your info it is my opinion based on the regulations in effect for today is that you WONT be allowed entry into Canada.

Read this link very closely.

THIS BIT To meet the travel restriction exemptions, you must also
  • be coming to Canada to settle permanently (you cannot come to Canada and leave to go live in another country, even if it’s temporary)

I've moved your post to our immigration section.. :)

In addition to Former Lancastrian's post, do bear in mind that you will be expected to 'land' in the Nominating Province of Saskatchewan or have onward flights/transport to Saskatchewan arranged for later in the day - so they can see that your intention is to go to your nominating Province.

Our COPR was prior to 18th March so we were OK to travel. We have been over looking for business / property but frankly everything seemed like hard work, the fear of covid seems to have gripped Canadians unlike anywhere else and now you have the so called UK Strain of covid so I can't see things will have improved much!. After spending (wasting you might say) weeks quarantined we are done until the quarantine is lifted or the Alberta model is rolled out nationally. Obviously if your COPR starts to run out of time that would change things but right now I would say just sit tight.

Hi all, thanks for your replies. I think for now as suggested we will 'sit tight' until lockdowns end on both sides... if they ever will!
