Default Help - Possible move to Canada

Hi, I've had a quick look in the Wiki and on the Canadian Immigration site but hoped you guys can answer some quick questions for me.

We are currently in Los Angeles on Inter-Company visa's, my hubby has recently been made redundant which means both our visa's expire on September 4, and need to leave the country shortly after.

One option that has just opened up to us is a possible job offer in Quebec. This is from a company he has worked closely with over the last couple of years.

He is in a skilled job that qualified him for a visa in the US and also for a Green Card (although we obviously haven't got this through in time).

From what I have read we could come in on Temporary Work Visa's to start with. So my questions are:

As he qualifies in the US for a visa, is it safe to assume he will also qualify in Canada (the profession is in even shorter supply there)?

Whats the minimum time frame we can expect, bearing in mind we have no issues to sort out and could be there a day after approval?

Thanks in advance.

It will take some time as the employer has to obtain a CSQ from Quebec and a Labour Market Opinion. If it is approved then you would have to apply for a work permit. http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.q...ers/index.html

Thanks for the quick reply. I have already come across my first hurdle, the English version isn't available, only French.

Do you know how long it would take for a Labour Market Opinion to get approved?

(I've just got used to taking 'u' out of words like Labour)

About 6-8 weeks for most LMOs, No Idea how long for an CSQ.
