Hello experts!
I really need advice on my situation. I want to apply for Canadian
citizenship but I will need to immigrate to the US after I send my
application. My question is can I wait for the processing of my
Canadian citizenship while in the US as an immigrant? Will accepting
and settling as a permanent resident strips my landed immigrant status
in Canada even with the new 2/5 rule and therefore make me ineligible
for further processing for citizenship? I am thinking to just travel
across the border for the exam and oath taking. Thank you very much
for your responses, I really appreaciate it.

If you *need* to immigrate to the US, then save yourself $200 and don't
bother applying for citizenship.
Citizenship is not something to be taken lightly, nor is it something
created for convenience sake. It is something you take because you want to
give something in return.
If your attitude toward Canada and the importance of citizenship is so
flippant, you are not the sort of citizen the country needs.

You're welcome.
