Default Help and advice required please

Hi All,

1st post on the forum and am looking at some general advice.

I am 31 and my partner is 29 and we are looking to move permanently to canada.

I work for the police service(not an officer-civi staff) in the Uk and my partner is a teacher.

I was about to start a position in uniform however my condition (see below) has stopped that.

We are looking to do similar jobs in either BC or Alberta, from reading up on other sites i understand that there isnt a shortage of teachers in BC. I also have a background in IT.

Regards to finance we have a mortgage free property so have no issues with funds.

My only fear with regards to the move would be my health, over the past 6 months, i have been diagnosed with a mild form of IBS and Acid Reflux....could anyone pm me if they have made the move with these conditions or if it has stopped them due to the medical.

I also have a family member who has lived in canada for 30 years-the member of family is my mums husbands sister...would this count towards anything ?

I am just finding out information at present and have yet to apply.

Thanks

Matt

Hiya,

Not sure about the IBS issue but i very much doubt that will have any impact on your application.

As for the relatives, your mums husbands sister (or Aunty as i call them) is eligible to sponsor you i believe.

Unfortunately, she cannot sponsor under federal program, but there are 3 provinces that allow for an aunt/uncle to sponsor a niece/nephew under their PNP program - Manitoba, SK and Alberta. So it will depend on where she lives.

And I agree with el_richo, your reflux shouldn't impact on your medical, medicals are generally refused if you will be a drain on Canadian medical resources, which they consider to be $5k a year or more in costs, and I can't see your condition costing anywhere near that.

And you are correct that there is no shortage of teachers in BC, unfortunately there is no shortage anywhere in Canada. Have a read of the following for more info......................http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Teaching_in_Canada

Hope that helps, good luck.
