Unhappy Guidance/ Help Required Urgent

Hi,

I had applied for Canadian Immg / PR in Jan 2001 and still didnt hear anything from them. It is almost 9 months now. What is the minimum duration that I should wait? Also IS there a way I can contact them for the status?? The online status on their Site is not working and the phone no given had only recorded mssg. I guess the only way I can contact them is through fax. Pls advise .

Also what are the current Job scenario in Canada for IT field? Why is that when I search for Jobs in US I get 100 jobs for a keywird say " javascript" and only 6-7 jobs for same keyword in canada?? Am I doing wroung search?? Or is the scene really like that??

Pls Advice and guide to my questions above.
My email address is [email protected]

Thanks
Raj

Canada's population is 10 times smaller than in US, so is the economy and this
is why you are getting less "hits" when you do the search. Also most of jobs in
Canada are not advertised on the Internet at all.

Canada has about 1/10th the population of the USA so it should have been
about 10 to be in proportion.

99% of tech jobs are on the basis of networking, and executive search firms... just a very small number of jobs is ever advertised outside...

and if such advertising does take place, preference is given to the local newspapers because most employers here prefer dealing with local candidates..

when on the other hand, jobs posted on the internet
a. cost money, that does not usually yeild
b. quality local candidates that an employer can realistically consider hiring
c. a flood of resume's that are emblished to quickly meet the advertised expectations of the ad and
d. provide no way of being able to easily sort through a huge volume of responses to the generally accepted A pile (what apear on paper to be a good fit) and B pile (e-recycling)

most of these problems are eliminated by using good executive search firms (NOT headhunters or body shoppers); and advertising in the print media yeilds resume's by fax or mail, the quantity is usually less while quality is superior...
