Got the Citizenship Test date through...

Both a milestone in our journey and a bit of information for others waiting...

Our application was submitted in May 2018 and we got the Invitations for the Citizenship Test today, for 14th March.

The wait time seems to have increased in the last 12 months due to a probably wave of people suddenly qualifying due to the change by the government to provide the ability to count 50% of 12 months of TFW status toward the 3 years qualifying residency calculation.

Mrs Withabix did have to get fingerprints done at RCMP (applicants are selected at random), which may have delayed things a bit, but the wait time does seem to be longer than it used to be.

thats grear news. Congrats

I think the fingerprint check added to the delay so it’s over 12 months also maybe your spouse has a common name or maybe they had to rule out someone they had on file.

Citizenship Ceremony 4th June! The end of a long journey!

That's the 'Good' update.

The 'Bad' update is that on 8th March, my employer did some downsizing and I was one of 20 people let go.

First time in 28 years that I've lost a job. :banghead:

A few opportunities currently looking good - my Severance runs out at the end of July, so as long as I find the right job by then...there's quite a lot out there, but I'm trying to keep at the same level and those opportunities are not so plentiful...

What a bummer :( Sorry to hear that your job has gone down the drain.... don't forget you are entitled to claim EI which will kick in after your severance pay ends.. so you could have a case for Dr Summeroff! https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-.../duration.html

Best of luck with your search for a new one.. never easy
:fingerscrossed:
