Got CAIPS + Question

Hi Experts & Everyone,
After a long wait of 2 months, I finally got my CAIPS notes.. phew~~~
. I had to send fax many times to ask for the CAIPS notes status, and finally, after completed 2 months, I finally got it.
I have a question though, I see on the CAIPS notes, Buffalo office is waiting for my background checking:
B chk sent electronically for pi and spouse
sent on 08-Apr-2005
My spouse is principle applicant and has been here since very young, thus Canada is the only country his background checking will be based on. I am from China, so the background checking involves two countries - China + Canada.
Question is... Is it normal for them to take this long for a background checking? It's been 2 months.
I thought it would be a lot faster now since it's all done electronically.
Could anyone has similar experience share some information with us please?
Thanks in advance!

For China it may take even a year or longer.

We also spent a few years in China, which presumably means that they will do a background check in China, right?
If so, at what stage do they do it? Before or after the IA? Before, after or concurrent with the medicals? We are trying to get an idea of our timing, and this information would be helpful, especially if it could take up to a year.
Any help, ideas or thoughts would be gratefully received.
Cheers

Thanks for that . . . so we should factor in about a year after a successful IA for the Chinese background check. Not ideal, but at least we know, for which we are most grateful.
Does anyone know how that impacts the timing of the medicals?
Cheers

Hi
Sucessful IA, estimation as to when background checks will be complete, then medicals requested so that they don't expire prior to background completion. (In a perfect world, this would work, but some people end up having to redo meds.)

Just hope that it will be faster than a year - it sometimes is.
