Default Got it!!! but I should update my passport

Hi,

It is my turn to say "Got It" after 30 months of waiting.

On my letter, it says that the passport should be valid at least one year. My passport will expire on June 20, 2005 and I planed to ask my friend to bring it to the visa office on June 21, 2004 for stamping.

Anybody can tell me if I should extend my passport or it is Ok??

The embassy in Ottawa told me that I can not extend my passport until there are less than 6 months before the passport expires.

Hi
Congrats on gettting your pp request. Could you pl post your detailed timeilne here such as applied, AOR, IA, medicals, RCMP and other docs submitted with dates/months. I am aware that each case is unique, but it might provide us a rough idea, where we stand now in the entire process?

Thanks

Damodar

Hi Congratulations to you!

You have to renew your passport because the VISA will be valid for a year, so your passport has to be valid for a year too.

Would you mind to tell me which country are you originally from?
thanks!

I don't think you need to renew your passport now. The visa will be valid counting one year from the date you did your medicals (March 2005), so there's no need for you to renew your passport now.

In case your passport expires before the one year from the date of medicals, your visa would be issued with the passport expiry date as it's expiry date.

Good luck.

In case your passport expires before the one year from the date of medicals, your visa would be issued with the passport expiry date as the PR visa expiry date.

I am originally from China

I will have my visa stamped on June 21, 2004 with the help from my friends who will submit it for me and my passport will expire on June 20, 2005. That is exactly 1 year!!

Thanks very much. I will try to have my visa stamped first.
