Default Goods to follow list

This question is on behalf of a family that will be landing soon. They are coming from the UK, but the car they bought is coming from the US ? will this be a problem or is everything they are shipping have to com from the UK.
Thanks

Depends on how long they have owned the vehicle and if they have used it and can prove that. Moving from the UK and a vehicle coming from the US is going to be hard to prove us unless they were legal US residents when they purchased the vehicle. Unless they meet the criteria they will likley have to pay tax on importation as well as the fees. To qualify for duty- and tax-free importation 'you must have owned, possessed, and used the goods before your arrival in Canada. ' 'if you owned and possessed the goods without using them, the goods will be subject to duty and taxes. '

They should make sure it can be imported into Canada as well, otherwise they may have a bill for modifications or an oversized paperweight.

They should check this out. http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publicati...f5048-eng.html
