Question Goods to follow - how specific?

Hello all, I'm landing in Montréal next week and I am just wondering if anyone can tell me how specific I need to be with my "to follow" list.

I am taking 2 cases of clothes and am only really leaving a few boxes of books with my parents which my family and friends will gradually bring over as and when they visit me... do you think I need to list all of the books that will be following or can I just say "x number boxes of books" ?

I have catalogued my cases but I think my landing lists are possibly more comprehensive than necessary (I have put things like "pink t-shirt", "purple polo neck jumper", "blue heels" etc).

Any advice would be welcomed! Thanks

Jen

I had 20 boxes of stuff shipped over, and my goods to follow list was like the following;

X amount of CDs $value
X amount of DVD $value
X amount of books $value
Clothes $value
Hard drive S/number $value
X amount shoes $value

etc etc

They were happy with that. Always over estimate rather than underestimate as it is easier to bring less in than it is to bring more later.

I was extremely vague when I did mine

just stated number of boxes of each type of Item and value. I even got away with using box of miscellaneous household items,

Hi

Teabags are classified as food. I learned it the hard way when my packages arrived. The lady kept asking me if I had any food and I said no. Then she pointed to the teabags on my list. She was not very pleased.

Surely that's obvious though?

Anyone got any experience about importing a car? How specific does one have to be on the original GTF?

1. Description plus VIN.
2. I am assuming it is either over 15 years old or was built for the US/Canadian market and has the plate on the door frame certifying it.
3. You should read the information at www.riv.ca for importation.
4. If you are in the US, it must be exported, see: http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/trade/bas...or_vehicle.xml
5. Don't forget the recall letter from the manufacturer, not the dealer.

PPM

Thanks very much - importing from the US - have you done this yourself? Was it relatively simple?
