Smile Goods to Follow

Sitting here with husband trying to produce a goods to follow list as he will be landing on Saturday (I and the kids hold Canadian passports) when we visit over christmas. How specific does this list have to be, what happens if you then acquire other goods which you may wish to take with you? Should I beat a hasty retreat whilst he lands and go and have a cup of coffee and wait or stay behind and support him?

Any goods acquired after the date of "landing" cannot be included in goods to follow, so you would be paying taxes on duties on them.
