Default Going to Buffalo with an expired PR card via Niagara land border

My PR card is currently being renewed and I have booked a stay at a hotel for the night in Buffalo (mental break)

Upon coming back to the canadian border, if I show my british passport, tax statements, ontario driving license and proof that my PR card is being renewed..will that be enough to get back into Canada?

It will all depend on the CBSA officers you get at the Border. Providing you have sufficient documentation with you to show that you have met the residency requirement (730 days) in the last 5 years on the day you arrive back in Canada then you should be OK. Don't forget to fill out the ArriveCan app before you come back.
