getting PR card before DEC. 30
Hi, everyone,
I am an immigrant who is still living in my home country.
I have possessed IMM1000 paper but has not changed it to PR card.
I am planning to move to canada next summer (3/5 rule makes it possible) and
thinking of going to canada when applying for PR card at the office and
getting it (of course, keeping a address at canada while the process).
Do you guys it is possible and safe way to make it ?
I do not think it is bad way and legally no problem because we immigrants
have a right to go in and out of canada with IMM1000 paper till dec. 30.
Do you have any plan or idea to keep our PR card ?

It is 2/5 rule.
As long as you are within 2/5 rule and can document it you shouldn't have
any problems coming to Canada with your IMM 1000 before the end of this
year.
But note that getting PR Card doesn't help you with keeping your PR status -
the only way to keep your status is to meet 2/5 rule.

Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) requires permanent residents
to reside in Canada for at least 730 days (2 years) in every 5 years period
in order to keep their PR status. This is the 2/5 rule.

Re: getting PR card before DEC. 30
Dear, Mr. Miler,
Thank you very much for your correspondance.
I know everyone says two to four months to get PR card after applying.
I just wanted to make sure of this process time and you could confirm me of
this time.
Thank you very much again.

My friend sent the application for PR card in Feb 25th, till date he has not received letter from CIC to pick up his card, many are waiting more than 18 weeks. At this time it is taking 4-5 months to get PR card.
