Default FSW - Supporting Documents

Just going through the checklist (Buffalo), am I reading this correctly that letters of reference are for principal applicant only? For me as accompanying spouse, it says "original and up to date letters of reference, including all details as specified above, in respect of any employment in Canada under a work permit. And, a copy of the work permit. So am assuming that I have not, or will be (yet) working in Canada?

Transcripts - any particular reason they have to be sealed?

Thanks, JT

Transcripts need to be sealed because otherwise there is danger of "amendment". As sometimes happens everyone pays for the sins of a few.

Thank you - I guessed I was being just a little naive!

Re my question about letters of reference, can you shed any light on that one too?

Letters of reference for the accompanying spouse are only needed if they have worked in Canada (legally).

Again, thank you - I think that's all for my questions until I think of some more at 3am

Can I just say a huge thank you to all you experienced people out there who tirelessly give advice and have probably seen the same questions again and again - what patience you must have

It should be noted that the FSW checklists for Buffalo and London are different for dependent spouses.

London:

7.
WORK EXPERIENCE
For you, your spouse or common-law partner provide:
•notarized employment contracts from your present and past employers, accompanied by an English or French translation
•original and up-to-date letters of reference from your past and current employers. Letters must be written on company letterhead and show the company’s full address, telephone and fax numbers, and be stamped with the company’s official seal.

Buffalo

For the accompanying spouse or common-law partner:
•original and up-to-date letters of reference, including all details as specified above, in respect of any employment in Canada under a work permit.
•a copy of the work permit.
