Default FSW APP. questions?

Hi all,

My wife and I are in the very early stages of the FSW application process. Just looking over the forms, questions etc.

Could someone advise us on :-

1. 'Letters of reference', are we both required to get references from EVERY previous employer we have had??

2. 'Where do you intend to live in Canada'? .. We currently have no real preverence on where we want to live, as it will no doubt depend on job demand.. (my wife is a nurse) Can we put down 'anywhere', or will we need to choose?

3. Are we required to sit a test/ submit some sort of proof that english is our 1st language (im sure i read somewhere that by sending educational docs will prove it)

As i said at a very early stage, so apologise if asking silly questions,

Thanks in advance for any help provided!

Hi

I wouldn't worry about getting a reference from all employers as it is not always possible due to firms closing/managers leaving etc. Just get the ones you can and send a letter to CIC explaining why you can't get one for all of them. The most important ones are the ones relevant to your job on the NOC list.

Put the Provinence you are thinking about living in or ? if you have no idea. I don't think it really matters so much at the initial stage.

As stated in the guidelines you don't need to sit a test if English is your first language but you need to submit a letter explaining that you have lived in England all your life and all your education and work experience is in English etc. You could also send copies of English Language and literature examination certificates if you have them.

Hope this helps with your queries and good luck

For province, I think you do need to put one, but as Melsa said, it doesnt really matter if you change your mind. So pick one you like or pick one randomly, except Quebec. Because Quebec have a different system and you will require their permission before Federal application. But any other province would do, and when you move to Canada, you can live to any province (including Quebec).

Hi there,
thanks for your reply. My wife is a nurse and so she is the main applicant. Does that mean I also have to get references?..

Thanks again

I think the new guidelines state you both need references. When I applied only the main applicant needed references. I too am a nurse and am the main applicant. Maybe we could communicate about this if it's ok to share information?

Quebec can select immigrants, although the PR application is still processed at the Federal level. If you are selected by Quebec, you won't have to meet Federal selection requirements, but still have to pass Federal medical and security checks.

To be selected by Quebec, you would need to meet their requirements, which is also points based, with an emphasis on being able to communicate in French.
