Default French Language points

Hello all,

I applied in mid 2002 for the canadian PR.
When I applied for the PR, I think the minimum qualification points
was 73 points.
To gain some extra points I happen to mention that I know spoken
french (for 4 points). Anyway I am practizing how to speak French
using Audio Casettes and French Learning Computer CD's. But I am
feeling it hard to learn. I plan to take some French lessons also this
February.

My initial assesment is already complete and I thank God I was not
called for Interview. I did my Medicals and sent the FBI fingerprints
and earnings statement in Dec 2003. I need your suggestion about
learning French.

Is it absolute necessary that I learn to speak some French??
Will I have any problem due to this during landing process in Canada.

I really like to learn both French and Spanish. But I am not spending
enough efforts (and money) to learn it.

I urge your prompt response.

Thanks a lot.

I don't think it is necessary to know French in Canada - unless you plan to
take-up a bilingual job in Quebec.
If you can speak and understand at a basic level, you can get by, even in
Quebec.

I have several friends who work in Montreal in jobs that don't need French.
They don't know any French and get by easily.

Take it easy.
