Default French knowledge??

Dear experts,

I need your advice. Soon I will be ready to send my application for Federal
Skilled Worker. I took IELTS last week-end and am waiting for the results.

In my opinion, I have some basic French. However, right now the only
evidence that I can present is the letter from Alliance Francaise that I
took classes there.
I am planning to take TEF, but it will take time to prepare, to schedule the
test and wait for the results. What is your advice to write on the form
IMM008 - to check basic knowledge of French, include the letter and state
that I will be taking TEF soon? In this case won't my application be laying
on the shelf until the results will come? Or is it better not indicate any
French knowledge (in my assessment without French I should get 70 points)
and then to send an updated IMM008 with TEF results?
I am just thinking time wise 2 or 3 months it's time and I would like to
have at least AOR by then.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts!
EK
